Our Probate fees and disbursements
Our fees are based on the time we spend on a case charged at an hourly rate. In some cases where the estate is particularly complex or of a high value we may also charge between 0.5% to 1% of the gross value of the estate assets to take account of the work required and the responsibility of the firm. Assets of the estate include residential homes, second homes or investment properties, shares and investments. The exact cost will naturally depend on the individual circumstances of the estate. For example, if there is one beneficiary and no property, costs will be at the lower end of the range. If there are multiple beneficiaries, a property and multiple bank accounts, costs will be at the higher end. We will happily provide you with an accurate quote once we have reviewed the case.

Our solicitor hourly charges are £250.00 plus vat per hour.

Disbursements that are likely to be payable:
Probate application fee of £155
Additional copies of the grant £0.50 per copy.
£5.00 plus £2 with a Will attachment Swearing of the oath (per executor)
Bankruptcy-only Land Charges Department searches (£2 per beneficiary)
£200-£300 Post in The London Gazette and a local newspaper.

Deeds of Variation from £495 – £1,000 plus vat depending on the complexity and drafting.

Potential additional costs
If there is no will or the estate consists of any share holdings (stocks and bonds) there is likely to be additional costs that could range significantly depending on the estate and how it is to be dealt with. We can give you a more accurate quote once we have more information.
